Priority Skills NL — in-demand occupations

The Priority Skills stream invites candidates in occupations critical to NL's economy. Recent targets:

  • Healthcare: nurses, physicians, allied health
  • Information technology (software developers, cybersecurity)
  • Engineering (civil, mechanical, petroleum)
  • Skilled trades (electricians, welders, mechanics)
  • Ocean technology (marine biology, aquaculture)
  • Energy sector

International Graduate stream — for recent NL grads

If you graduated from a public post-secondary in NL, you can qualify with:

  • Diploma, degree, or certificate (2+ years duration)
  • Job offer in NL aligned with your studies
  • Continuous residence in NL during studies
  • Minimum CLB 5 (or CLB 7 for some occupations)

Step-by-step NLPNP application

  1. Confirm eligibility for your target stream
  2. For EE streams: have a valid Express Entry profile
  3. Submit EOI (or full application for some streams)
  4. Wait for Letter of Interest (EE streams) or proceed directly to application
  5. Submit complete application package
  6. Receive nomination — 600 CRS bonus for EE-aligned streams
  7. Federal PR application

Common NLPNP refusal reasons

  • Job duties not aligned with claimed NOC
  • Inadequate proof of NL ties (especially for non-EE streams)
  • International Graduate stream: job not aligned with field of study
  • Settlement funds inadequate
