What is TEER?

NOC 2021 groups every occupation by a TEER category — Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities. Your TEER affects which immigration programs and work permits you qualify for.

e.g. doctors, engineers, software professionals, nurses
TEER 2 College / apprenticeship (2+ yrs) or supervisory

TEER 3 College / apprenticeship (< 2 yrs) or 6+ months training
e.g. licensed trades, truck drivers, dental assistants
TEER 4 High-school or weeks of training
e.g. retail sales, food servers, trades helpers
TEER 5 Short work demonstration, no formal education
e.g. cleaners, kitchen helpers, labourers
